Columbus has a sushi problem, and it’s the good kind. You can chase omakase flown in from Japan with a chef who puts on a show, or you can grab a revolving plate for under fifteen bucks while your kid giggles at the conveyor belt.

Both are right, depending on the night. I’ve eaten my way through the Short North to Easton, and the counter at Haru still haunts me.

This city takes its raw fish seriously. So do the chefs.

Here’s where to get your fix.

Upscale quality worth the price

HARU Omakase is a whole different animal. I sat at the bar and let the chef run the show. The fish flies in from Japan, and you can taste the difference. Every course landed with a little surprise. The menu flips every six weeks, so it never gets stale. It's pricey, sure. But you're paying for a performance and the freshest bites in town. If you want a meal that feels like an event, this is your spot. Just come hungry and open-minded. I left full, impressed, and already planning my next visit. This is the kind of place that sets the bar for everyone else.

Saikou Revolving Sushi is the kind of place that makes you feel like a kid again. You grab plates as they glide by, and the options just keep coming. The fish tasted fresh, and the rolls showed real care. It's kid-friendly and easy on the wallet, which never hurts. What really got me was the owner. He actually listens. If something's off, it gets fixed fast. That's rare these days. The craftsmanship on the plates beats a lot of sit-down spots around Columbus. I left full, happy, and honestly a little hooked on the revolving gimmick. It works. Bring the family or just come for the fun.

Attentive staff, clean space

SUSHI EN packs a punch. The O-toro was buttery and melt-in-your-mouth good. I'm still thinking about it. The All in Roll came stacked, way more than I expected for the price. Even the cooked chicken bowl surprised me—juicy, flavorful, and a solid pick if you're not all-in on raw. Staff hovered just enough to keep my water full and check in. The place was spotless, which always earns points. It's not flashy, but it doesn't need to be. If you want honest sushi and a meal that overdelivers, this is your spot. I'll be back for that toro, no question.

Slurping Turtle impressed me from the door. We got seated fast, which is a win on a busy night. The staff was kind, attentive, and actually seemed happy to be there. Food came out quick and everything tasted sharp. That restaurant week menu was a steal. Drinks were on point too. I've had hit-or-miss experiences at places that get busy, but this one stayed consistent. No wild surprises, just solid quality from start to finish. If you want a low-stress night with good food and great service, put this on your list. It's the kind of place you can rely on, and that's worth a lot.

Best view in town
Fantastic service and drinks
Great nightlife and atmosphere
Sushi flavors miss the mark
Skip food, stay for vibes

Mandrake Rooftop has the best view in Columbus, hands down. I went for the skyline and stayed for the drinks. Those were fantastic. Service was sharp, and the vibe at night is electric. But here's the thing: the sushi just didn't hold up. The flavors felt flat, and the rolls missed the mark. I wasn't mad, just let down. This is a vibes place. Come for the sunset, sip something strong, and maybe grab a snack elsewhere. If you judge it as a bar, it's a winner. As a sushi spot, it's a pass. I'll still come back, but I'm ordering drinks only.

Yoshi's feels like a secret worth keeping. The place is bright, clean, and has this cool jazz vibe playing in the background. I started with fresh sushi at prices that didn't hurt. Then I wandered into the udon and hit a grilled gizzard that was surprisingly awesome. Everything felt authentic, like someone actually cares about Japanese cooking. The staff was friendly and left me alone when needed. It's a wide menu, so you can bring anyone. Fair prices, real flavors, and a calm atmosphere. This might be my new weekday go-to. Just don't tell everyone, okay?

Delicious, crispy tonkatsu bento
Great takeout presentation
Tasty buckeye and spicy tuna rolls

YES SUSHI is a takeout hero. I grabbed the tonkatsu bento and it was crispy, juicy, and totally satisfying. The presentation in the box was nicer than most sit-down places. I also snagged a buckeye roll and a spicy tuna roll. Both were tasty, with sauces that didn't drown the fish. The staff was super helpful when I asked for recommendations. Portions are generous, and the flavors are bold but balanced. If you're ordering in, this is a no-brainer. It's quick, friendly, and the food travels well. I'll be back for another bento soon. This place does simple right.

Kona Grill at Easton is a chill escape from the shopping chaos. I came for a light bite and left obsessed with the butter cake. That dessert is dangerous. The tender rice bowl was amazing too—soft, savory, and comforting. Even the meatball appetizer surprised me. It's top-tier bar food with a little polish. The atmosphere is relaxed, perfect for a post-stroll meal. Service was fine, nothing flashy, but the food carried the visit. If you're at Easton and want something easy with a few standouts, this works. Just save room for that cake. You'll thank me later.

YES SUSHI hit me with variety. The sushi was fresh and fairly priced, so I loaded up. Then I spotted the ramen station with 30 different noodles. That's a fun choice to make. I grabbed something with a kick, and it hit the spot. They also stock unique Asian snacks, so I grabbed a few things I'd never tried. That mochi is the perfect little treat to end the meal. Service was fast and friendly, even when it got busy. This place does a lot and does it well. It's a great stop for a quick fix or a full feast. I'm a fan.

Incredible flavor, fair price

Kirin Noodle is the quiet winner. The outside is humble, but the flavors are loud. I ordered ramen and it was easily the best I've had in Columbus. Broth was deep, noodles had chew, and the pork melted. The owner was right there, checking on things. That's a good sign. Even my delivery order felt fresh and warm when it arrived. That's rare. The price is fair for what you get, which makes it even better. Don't judge this spot by its looks. Just walk in, grab a bowl, and thank me later. I'll definitely be back for more.

Small, busy, worth the squeeze

OSAKA TON KATSU is small, busy, and totally worth the squeeze. The pork katsu arrived with a crust so crispy it sang. Golden, juicy, and just right. But the Katsu Don stole my heart. Fluffy egg, soft rice, and that pork. Superstar. I tried the Hatcho Miso too, and it's got this deep, authentic flavor you don't find everywhere. The owner's passion for food is obvious in every bite. You can feel it. The place is cramped, but that adds to the charm. Come early or be ready to wait. I'd wait again. This is real Japanese comfort food done right.
